Since the day I first tasted the unique espresso fragrance I fell in love with it. The espresso today is a must for me and I can go without food, but not without my cup of espresso. The wonderful thing about it is the fact that almost everyone can make a good cup of espresso. All you need is a good espresso machine, some quality coffee beans and the simple skills to operate the said machine.
Once I was out of my parents’ house after college, the first thing I bought for my tiny new apartment was a new espresso machine. It wasn’t of the best quality, but I made sure to buy good coffee beans and learned how to make a tasty, creamy espresso for me and my friends. Today, the variety of espresso machines may confuse you, but if you know what you like, your cup of coffee to taste like, it will not be difficult to make the right choice.
For me it is always about the control. I like to have the say in how much water, cream and coffee would go in my cup. The super automatic machines operate with the press of a button and make the coffee the way they are programmed to. The semi automatic espresso machines allow you some liberty and require, for example, for you to stop the water. The manual espresso machines, on the other hand, are made for real baristas, who like to think and manually adjust their cups of coffee.
The price of some of those espresso machines still scares me, but truth be told, I cannot live without my espresso and I really prefer to make it at home. The walk to a good coffee shop can be long and you are never sure what are you paying for. At home, however, it is up to you how your espresso would taste, how hot it would be and how much cream it would have in it.
Most espresso machines are worth what you have to pay for them and from my experience, I have learned that it is never too hard to learn how to use them. Be aware that every single one has its own characteristics and sometimes those same characteristics stay between you and your perfect cup of coffee.
Some of my friends spend a lot of money every day in coffee shops and other similar establishments, hoping to be served something good. I am sure that if they save the money they spend every month for coffee, they would be able to afford a good espresso machine for their homes. For me, all I can say is that espresso tastes even better when made at home by me.
